Meet Carrie

Helping people get a better night’s sleep

Carrie Bader is an occupational therapist and sleep therapist helping adults in Oregon use an effective, efficient approach to improving their sleep for the long-term.

A Different Way to Approach Sleep

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) considers the thoughts, behaviors, routines, and expectations that surround sleep and can sometimes keep difficult nights going.

Carrie uses this evidence-based approach to help you pinpoint what’s getting in the way of improved sleep and make focused changes based on what you discover.

Helping People Make Change

Carrie’s path to sleep therapy started with her work in occupational therapy, health education, and public health. Her career has centered on helping people understand the factors that affect their health and find changes that actually fit into their everyday lives.
After learning more about CBT-I and its role as a first-line treatment for chronic insomnia, Carrie saw an opportunity to bring that same practical, collaborative approach to sleep. She completed specialized training through Stanford’s Sleep Health and Insomnia Program and created Moonrise Sleep Therapy to provide focused support for adults struggling with sleep.

The Provider Behind Moonrise

I’m a health educator and licensed occupational therapist, trained in CBT-I through the Sleep Health and Insomnia Program at Stanford University. I help people reclaim restorative sleep using evidence-based strategies tailored to their lifestyle and challenges. I strive to provide care that is inclusive of all body sizes, genders, and sexual orientations.

As a solo mom of a young kid, I understand the realities of disrupted nights and the frustration of poor sleep. I know how easy it is to fall into a cycle of trying harder and harder to sleep well, only to feel more stressed and exhausted! I bring this understanding to every client with whom I work.

In addition to working directly with clients on their sleep, I train other health providers in collaborative communication strategies. Learn more about my provider trainings here.

Care That Works With You

Sleep doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Your routines, responsibilities, health, habits, and everything else going on in your life can all influence the way you sleep. Carrie takes those factors into account when helping you understand what may be contributing to your sleep difficulties and where to start.

You’ll get practical, evidence-based guidance, along with the opportunity to work through what makes sense for your particular circumstances. Together, you’ll look at your sleep patterns, what you’ve already tried, and which changes may be most useful and realistic for you. The goal is to make your care specific to your life—not follow a one-size-fits-all formula.

Because sleep can overlap with other areas of health, your care doesn’t have to exist in isolation. When appropriate, Carrie can work alongside your existing healthcare providers so that sleep therapy fits into the bigger picture of your care.
